A Mini Vacation

So we decided to go to Nashville for a little mini vacation while Tyler was on break. We've lived in the midwest for 2 1/2 years and have only been to Nauvoo so we wanted to go see some sites. We thought it would be a fun little get away before the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Yeah, we thought.

What we really got was freezing weather, a very onery 11 month old that wouldn't sleep, a bad head cold, one-ply tissues, hard pillows and little sleep. It was a more than a little disappointing.

We got into Nashville at about 5 on Sunday night and checked into the hotel. We were staying in the Opryland area so we went to the closest mall which was the Opry Mills. It's huge. So many shops and so many places to eat. We chose this place called the Aquarium, pretty cool place. Although we had to wait about 30 minutes past what we were quoted. Other than that it was good. It had this massive tank with huge sharks, fish and eels in the center of the room and all the tables were around it. After we ate we went back to the hotel cuz we didn't get a nap that day and we were so tired. We apperantly Kayden wasn't. Everytime we put him in his little pack-n-play he would scream, normally we would just let him cry for a few minutes but in a hotel we can't really do that. So about an hour and a half after we first started trying he finally went to sleep. It was 11 pm. He usually goes to sleep at 8:30. Anyway, he woke up at 2. Then again at 5:30. That's when he wouldn't go back to sleep, we put him in bed with us, he was very restless, I don't think any of us got any sleep after that. He was up for good at 7:30. Bleh.

He was so onery the whole day on Monday. I don't know what was wrong but he cried of whined almost nonstop. So that means we couldn't really go anywhere so we just drove around in Franklin looking at the huge mansions. They were pretty cool. We found the temple and parked in the church parking lot to change Kayden's diaper. That's when Tyler noticed a blackberry phone on the ground. There wasn't anyone around so we called the home number and got a woman. We offered to take it to them. We drove about 15 minutes to their house. Tyler took the phone to the door, the lady opened it, took the phone, said thanks and closed the door. What!? We didn't expect anything at all but maybe at least a little conversation. Rude. After that Kayden was a little better so we went to the Belle Meade Plantation. It was kinda neat. Then we went to dinner at the Wild Horse Saloon. That was fun. They had line dancing lessons and a live band. It was fun. And Kayden enjoyed the fries and saltine crackers. After that we went to the Opryland Hotel. O.M.G. That probably made the whole trip worth it. It was the biggest hotel I've ever seen. Better than any Las Vegas hotel I've been to. Wow. It was like a city. There was an island with shops and resturants, a massive Christmas tree, a garden conservatory and about a million waterfalls. So cool. We left there at about 10. Kayden fell asleep while we were walking around so we thought he would stay asleep. He didn't. He was a little better than the night before but not by much. He finally fell asleep at about 11 and stayed asleep until 5, went back to sleep and woke up for the day at 8. We slept like crap and I was completely stuffed up. My head felt like a balloon. We just wanted to leave cuz we were blah but since were were in Nashville we didn't want to miss out on stuff so we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was cool. Then we decided that it was time to go home.

That's all. We are home. It's 9pm and Kayden's asleep in his crib. I still have a killer cold. And we can't wait to sleep in our own bed. I will post pictures later. I'm tired.
